Denver Post, NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING FOR THE PURPOSE OF APPROVING AN AMENDMENT TO THE 9TH AND COLORADO URBAN REDEVELOPMENT PLAN AND TO CREATE THE 9TH AVENUE PROPERTY TAX AND SALES TAX INCREMENT AREA Notice is hereby given that a public hearing will be held by and before the Council of the City and County of Denver, Colorado, upon ordinance authorizing and approving an amendment to the 9th and Colorado Urban Redevelopment Plan, including the creation of the property tax and sales tax increment area for the 9th Avenue Project. The public hearing will be held in Council Chambers at the City and County Building located at 1437 Bannock Street, Denver Colorado, at the hour of 5:30 p.m. on December 8, 2014. The proposed amendment has been prepared and recommended by the Denver Urban Renewal Authority, which Authority is to undertake the execution of the Plan pursuant to law. The portion of the 9th and Colorado Urban Redevelopment Area covered by the amendment to the 9th and Colorado Urban Redevelopment Plan is in the City and County of Denver, is comprised of approximately 26 acres immediately east of Colorado Boulevard and is generally bounded by East 11th Avenue on the north, East 8th Avenue on the south and Bellaire Street on the east. The amendment provides for the utilization of property and sales tax increment within the area described herein to finance a portion of the cost of the urban redevelopment project. The 9th Avenue Project, located on the former campus of the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, includes demolition, environmental remediation, and redevelopment of the area into residential and commercial uses, public parking, upgrades and/or repair of utilities, public infrastructure and other public improvements. The purpose of the hearing is to consider adoption of the amendment to the 9th and Colorado Urban Redevelopment Plan, seeking to eliminate blight and assist with revitalization and redevelopment of the Urban Redevelopment Area in conformance with City plans.
